BRUNEI
Introduction
In terms of population Brunei is the smallest country in Southeast Asia. With less than 500,000 residents living in the Delaware-sized country, Brunei's international sports impact is understandably small. Soccer is the most popular sport in the country, but basketball has a reasonably strong following. Despite its relative popularity, the Brunei National Basketball Team has never finished in the medals in a SEABA event. Currently half of the NT players also play for the Brunei Barracudas.
One factor that helps the popularity of basketball in Brunei is the large Filipino population that live and work there. Filipino players have even been used recently as practice players for the Brunei National Team to increase the competitiveness of practices.
Leagues
The only professional league operating in Brunei is the ASEAN Basketball League. The Brunei Barracudas are the Sultanate's representative in this league.
Other than the ABL, there are leagues and tournaments often in Brunei, but these are for the most part amateur affairs.

Brunei Times - The major English-language newspaper in Brunei covers all sports in the Sultanate closely. Pretty much every basketball-related event will receive some press.
